Universal Principles |
|
If we look at our evolutionary journey through the ages, we can see that there are certain Universal Principles that have been passed on through the ages through many traditions of the world as guideposts to the manifestation of a healthy, happy and joyful life.
The Principle of Love
The Principle of Love both transcends and encapsulates all other Principles. Believing Love to be the very Essence of Source/God/Spirit; it is universally regarded as the highest attainment. It is the energy which creates attunement & oneness [at-one-ment] with Source/God/Spirit. All the spiritual teachers of the past have spoken of the power of love. Love is expressed through forgiveness, compassion, kindness, gentleness, patience, sharing, allowing others to choose their own path without judging them, and respect for others; even when it is not easy. Maybe we can take some time to examine where love may be missing in our life. Maybe we can practice the cultivation and growth of love everyday, through every being that we encounter, through every thought that we think, through every communication and in giving love to our own self— and we will soon see the radiance of this energy made manifest in our own life; for we will have called it to our self in our giving of it.
The Principle of Unity
This universal precept speaks to the unitedness, relatedness, connectedness, and oneness of all Creation. The Principle of Unity calls us to recognize that every living thing has the living Presence of Source/God/Spirit within it; this same divine thread which runs through all of life, uniting us, connecting us with one another, making us intrinsically same. And as this coherent Principle that we call God is the Source Consciousness and Energy which animates all of life, we see that we are a part of a vast and beautifully diverse and evolving Being. We see that there is divine equality between us. We see that we do not move about in creation as a separate entity, whose activities are in isolation to the rest of creation — but rather that what we do affects the entire universe for better or for worse. So we see that this principle calls us to recognize that we have a responsibility to the whole and that the whole has a responsibility to us. When we recognize that we are not separate from the whole, we are better able to release self-centeredness and see that we are intrinsically and intricately connected with one another, with the universe, and with the Source of Creation. We begin to embrace our place within the whole and from this point of unity, we act out our own individual creative experience with regard for its effects upon the whole of life.
The Principle of Free Will
The Principle of free will acknowledges that the gift of free will was allowed us by our Source and as such, it is the right of each individual to choose what they wish to believe and what they wish to create in their lives. Because of this we see that each one is innately entitled to freedom of thought, opinion and individual expression. We can honor this freedom in others in the same way that we value this freedom for ourselves. We can see that there is enough room in the world for diversity of thought and being. We can allow others their time, their space, and their way without judging them.
The Principle of Cause and Effect
The Principle of Cause and Effect asks that we realize that everything that we do, everything that we speak, everything that we think, and everything that we create has an effect on ourselves, on others, and on the world. We see then the wisdom in being mindful to use care in what we send out to others and to the world. We contemplate how our intended choices will affect ourselves and other life forms and we try to make choices that will bring no harm to others as best we can.
The Principle of Attraction [“That which ye sow, ye shall also reap”]
The Principle of Attraction calls us to see that if we chronically hold feelings of fear, anger, jealousy, blame, and judgmentalness, that it is that same energy which we will attract to ourselves. And as it relates to healing and spiritual evolution, an understanding of this principle is important primarily so that we can begin to become aware that we do hold a personal responsibility for our present condition and for the events that unfold in our lives. We are then able to see that there is nothing in our lives which happens as a coincidence — and that our attempts to reach the highest health, wellness, and spiritual wisdom aptly begins with each one of us taking responsibility for our present condition. And when we approach life in this manner we free ourselves from the bondage of living in the ignorance and unconsciousness of victimhood. We are then better able to manifest a clear consciousness and self mastery. We can create a new reality based on love, compassion, and self-empowerment. We hold in our consciousness only that which we wish to attract to our self.
