Extra Sensory Perception

Everybody has “extrasensory perception” (ESP) which is just a term that implies the use of the inner intuitive senses to understand and interpret things that we witness and feel. Most of us use these faculties to some degree in our daily life to “sense” things about people, places, and things without even realizing that we are doing that.

And while everyone has these abilities within them, for many of us, they have become somewhat dimmed, or somewhat latent, or somewhat buried under the layers of karmic residues which we have accumulated over eons of time — and due also to the fact that we, at some point, drew our attention away from using them as we became more focused on the material world.

But what we have seen is that as we return our attention to Spirit, our inner senses will begin to emerge from the relatively dormant state in which they have existed for a very long time. And they will come alive again to some degree, and in the configuration and manner which is suited to our own soul’s development and our work in this embodiment.

The manner in which these unfold will vary from person to person, and the degree to which these things will unfold, will also vary from person to person. Very often one might see a combination of the various senses expressed in their own unique way.

There are generally four ways in which an extra sensory perception [meaning transcending the five senses] may come to us:

1. It may come as “clairvoyance” which means clear-seeing.  It is a visual perception that appears through the mind’s eye, or the third eye  as a visual experience that one need not use their physical eyes to see.  It is an inner vision.

2. The next method by which we can perceive is through “clairaudience”. Clairaudience means clear-hearing.  It involves the inner hearing and perception of sounds, thoughts, voices, or music not audible by the “normal” hearing process.

3. We can also perceive intuitively through “clairsentience”.  Clairsentience means clear-sensing.  This involves the inner sensing and perception of smell, taste, touch, emotions, feelings, and physical sensations.

4. We can also perceive intuitively through what has been called “knowing.”  This involves the knowing of information that does not come about as a result of learning or reasoning.  It is simply present.

These various ways of perceiving information can overlap and mix and mingle in many different ways depending on the individual.  Each person is attuned to their own sublime nature of light, and the way that we perceive things will be unique and perfect for us.

We have observed that it is not useful to try to force the opening of these senses, or to become obsessed with the notion of their opening because they unfold in their own natural and appropriate way as one clears and harmonizes their own consciousness. Having extrasensory perceptions without a certain level of wisdom and understanding may not be so useful anyway. We have found that it is well to trust the Presence and the wisdom of Source/God/Spirit that dwells within us to manifest what is needed on our journey.

There are many who become trapped in the glamour of trying to seek psychic abilities such as clairvoyance and who become mesmerized by the notion of having these abilities, and who become mesmerized by those who demonstrate these abilities. This is the work of the ego — and it is unfortunate because it is simply an error to equate spiritual development with these psychic senses & abilities. In fact, amongst the pool of people who have these abilities, are those who exploit others for power, for personal adoration, or for money. In cases like this, we find that underneath the appearance of the “sage” lies incongruence and discord.  And, amongst the pool of people who have opened to these abilities can also be found a certain amount of imbalance. This imbalance is sometimes the result of one being so focused on this aspect of themselves that they have forgotten the many other aspects to mastery.  They may demonstrate little control over the physical, emotional, or mental body, and exhibit improper use of the power of the word [gossip]. They may not demonstrate a harmonious integration of mastery at all levels, and this is not an example that we need to follow.

What can be understood is that when a person opens themselves to these reservoirs of awareness  that the degree to which they are able to access information, interpret the information that they have accessed, form an accurate assessment, and relay the intended message is dependent on their level of development, clarity, and balance.

Their level of development, clarity, and balance is determined by many factors.  Some of the things included would be the experiences that they have had along the continuum of their existence, the lessons that they have learned, the wisdom and understanding that they have acquired, the purity of their intention, and the present condition of their total consciousness [mind, emotions, body, and spirit, conscious and subconscious].  So it is not at all true that because someone has extrasensory abilities, that their perceptions are accurate.  And neither is it true that they are even pulling through information from an evolved source.  Many psychics are only tapping into the lower astral realms and as such, cannot manifest the kind of information that would serve one who is trying to ascend beyond those realms. So we have found good reason to use care and caution when seeking information and guidance in this way.

Having said that though, there are some who use their gifts in great harmony with Spirit for the purpose of bringing the highest possible elevation of light through to us, and this is the way it is supposed to be. They are pulling information from the Angelic Realms and the Realms of the Ascended Ones; and they do it in a manner that is egoless.  They live the truth that they teach.  They are stable and integrated in their mastery; and this may be a better option if one is seeking guidance in this way. So we can just be mindful that there are many levels of abilities in this area and that we would do well to use our own discernment when seeking spiritual guidance this way.

In any event, it does not serve us to become addicted to the world of psychics because when we do that, we are giving our power away. We are reminded that we can always trust our own intuition in whatever developmental stage we are at because our own intuition IS the voice of Source/God/Spirit within. And there is no other voice on all of the earth which will bear greater fruit for us than our own intuition.  And as we clear ourselves of the energetic debris that we have accumulated within our consciousness, our own higher senses and perceptual abilities will be able to reemerge in us with greater and greater clarity.

But not everybody becomes a super-clairvoyant; and in fact, this may be the less common manner in which extrasensory perceptions are received.  And the reason why someone would not become clairvoyant is simply because it may not be something that our own Spirit has deemed useful to us, at the present moment, in our work in this embodiment. But there is no doubt that as we move forward on our journey into healing and self awareness that we will be able to sense life in a very different way, and this will lead us into greater understanding, greater awareness, and greater wisdom.

Extrasensory perceptions then, are NOT a guidepost to progress

Only the heart of the soul is the guidepost
