Healing the Physical Body |
|
While we understand that true healing demands a multidimensional effort, we can begin by just becoming aware of those things within us that we know are out of sync with wellness. And these, we find, are fine matters to contemplate in meditation.
We can take a look at our physical body, and the areas that contribute to physical body wellness. We become aware of our physical body condition through conscious focus. How healthy is our diet? How healthy is our weight? Do we get regular exercise and activity? How is our energy level? We try to start with reasonable baseline goals and work our way up gradually because we see that our present condition was not achieved overnight, and that our transformation will not occur overnight either.
We can contemplate the relevance of various tools to help us in this area like exercise, brisk walking, aerobics, yoga, dance, massage, energy work, a healthy diet, homeopathy, gem and flower essences, etc.... And we can create a personal plan to assist our physical bodies to release unhealthy energies, and to gain balance, wellness, strength, and endurance.
We learn to Listen to our Physical Body
When we are physically hungry, we eat. When we are thirsty, we drink. When we feel tired, we rest. When we feel sleepy, we sleep. When our body feels sore and aching, we can nurture our self with a warm salt bath. |

We start loving our body by taking care of it. We can allow our own intuition to guide us and we make up a physical body healing plan and begin. We can allow our own intuition to guide us if and when something needs to be changed, added, or subtracted. We can make some relatively simple modifications that may help us to manifest healthful results:
1. We can drink enough water This one addition alone would manifest a most profound benefit to the physical body at every level, and of all the suggestions, it belongs at the top as water is the medium through which all cellular transactions occur and it is the cleanser of toxins.
2. We can change from white bread to breads with whole wheat and grains Because white or bleached flour has been stripped of virtually all nutritional value, it is essentially empty calories. So we can try to find a nice whole grain bread that we like, and our body will benefit from the increased vitamin, mineral and fiber content.
3. We can reduce intake of white sugar We see also that white sugar is also lacking of benefit. On top of that, it sends our blood sugar into imbalance, it has adverse effects on the pancreas and virtually all other body systems, and it can adversely affect our mood by subjecting our body to peaks and dips of energy.
4. We can avoid sugar substitutes such as aspartame and the like There is evidence that these types of sugar substitutes may be harmful. We can find a natural healthy alternative at our local supermarket or whole foods store.
5. We can trade in our soda for herbal teas We see that because soda is filled with sugar, or in the case of diet soda, aspartame— that neither would be helpful to the system. There are many healing and balancing natural herbal teas that are soothing to the body and mind. Maybe we can take our time one day and enjoy picking out an herbal tea that we are drawn to. We will come to love our tea time!
6. We can moderate our caffeine intake We see that excessive caffeine intake may have a constricting and diuretic effect on all the vessels of the body and as such, can be used in moderate amounts. It may also interfere with sleep patterns and contribute to insomnia. So we can enjoy our cup or two in the morning and be mindful of when our bodies have had enough of it.
7. We can moderate our alcohol intake While we may enjoy a social drink now and again, we see that in larger amounts that it can produce depressive and dependent effects on the body and mind. It can also irritate the stomach, esophagus, pancreas, and liver. It also clouds the mind, numbs the senses, and affects one’s judgment. We all know what it can do in excessive amounts. Therefore we use with moderation and care.
8. We can raise our intake of fresh fruits, whole grains and vegetables. When we raise our intake of fresh fruits, whole grains, and vegetables, it has a most beneficial effect on all the body systems— especially the bowels. The average American has a sluggish bowel and experiences frequent episodes of constipation. When the bowels do not function properly, one can experience unpleasant side effects such as bloating and energy depletion. In addition to this, irregular bowel function also predisposes one to the buildup of unhealthy organisms, diminished nutrient absorption and exchange, and inadequate elimination of waste products. On a cellular level, the overall body systems are also affected adversely by this condition. Eating more fresh fruits, whole grains, and vegetables will assist with proper bowel function, and will translate into a higher energy level of the body.
9. We can consider the relevance of taking an HSO [Probiotic] supplement. HSO stands for homeostatic soil organisms. They are tiny bacterial microorganisms that live in the soil. They are what scientists and nutritionists call “good” bacteria. They make the soil lush and fertile, and they release enzymes which kill off harmful bacteria, fungus, mold, and yeast. Essentially, they sterilize the environment of organisms which cause decay. These helpful organisms have the same effect on the human intestines. In long times past, we used to have these healthy organisms in our diet when we ate foods which were simple, unprocessed, and straight from the garden. However, when we moved away from eating natural healthy foods from the earth, we no longer received the benefits which these natural cleansers provided us; and much disease and overgrowth of unhealthy organisms has resulted from the absence of this natural cleansing balancer which nature provided. There is much information available on the many benefits related to taking an HSO supplement and one can do their own research to see if this option feels right for them.
11. We can consider whole food vitamins If we feel the need for a vitamin, we have observed that “whole food vitamins” may be a superior choice. A wide variety of these can be found easily through the internet, and at some whole health establishments. It has been noted that the manner in which most vitamins are processed depletes them of much of the nutritional value, as well as the ability to be broken down and absorbed by the body. Conversely, whole food vitamins are created from whole foods. They are minimally processed, and in a very different manner; thus rendering them both easily and highly absorbable by the body. This type of nutritional supplement is effortlessly converted into energy.
12. We can raise the fiber content of our diet We see that fiber is vital to proper bowel function and assists with the removal of toxins. So it is well to make sure that our intake of fiber is adequate.
13. We can get regular sunshine and fresh air One of the greatest tragedies which unfolded in our evolution was our slow and steady disconnect from the Earth and Nature. There is little else more healing to the body, mind, and spirit as a walk on a beautiful day, a stroll in the park, the perusal of a garden, or a chair by the beach. We can take some time to allow our self to connect with the earth and nature. We see that She is a very powerful healing force and can bring us the balance that we need.
14. We can learn to breathe deeply When we breathe, we are literally taking in life force energy. Many of us have become habitual shallow breathers because we are too busy, because we are too mental, because we are too fearful, and because we are too unconscious; and this contributes to a sluggish and fatigued disposition. We observe that it is well worth the effort of changing this habit. We can make a mental note to stop and breathe deeply every hour at least. We can make it a new habit, and soon we will breathe deeply all the time. We learn how to use and appreciate the wave of calmness that comes through the breath. We see that this is a wonderful tool for relaxation and balance.
15. We can establish a healthy balance between work, rest, and play We see that wellness is all about BALANCE; and in order to have balance, we need to take a look at how much time we spend working, how much time we spend resting, and how much time we spend just having fun. All of these things are necessary for the being to grow and to thrive. So why not take a break and have some fun!
16. We can return to the simple life While returning to the simple life may seem simple; it is not always so simple because our society has gotten so far away from that in general. Even so, the gradual return to simplicity will affect our life, our family, and our being in a most profound way. We can remove our energy from anything that does not bear light . We can return to natural, simple, healthy foods from the earth. We can get a good night’s sleep. We see that once we begin to withdraw our energy from people, habits, places, and things which do not serve a higher purpose, that we see a great new strength and vitality emerge in our being. We see that there are only so many hours in a day and that we have to learn how to spend our time wisely. We have to begin to learn how to say “no” to people, places, and things which are unhealthy for us. We can keep a simple schedule and refrain from getting sucked into the incessant busyness and competitiveness of the outer world.
17. We can remove toxins from our environment We can scan our food products, our personal care products, our household cleaners, and any other substances or products around us for toxicities. We can identify those which contain unhealthy or toxic ingredients and we can exchange them for a non-toxic substitute. Nowadays, most common grocery stores have a section where natural, organic, earth friendly, people friendly products can be found. We can also find these products easily through the internet.
18. We can get regular exercise We see that the physical body responds in a most positive way to the practice of regular exercise. It does not matter what we choose. We just choose something that we can do and build from there. Once we get started, we will see noticeable benefits in a relatively short time, in our body, in our energy, and in our sleep pattern.
19. We can quit smoking
20. We can forgo fast food restaurants
21. We can Meditate
**If we have not had a complete physical within the past year, it is advisable that we make an appointment with our doctor to have a check up. At that time, we can ask our physician to re-examine the need for any medications so that unnecessary medications can be discontinued. As a society, we have become so reliant on drugs and other “quick fixes” to maintain our wellbeing for us. We have forgotten that the reestablishment of health and wellness in the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, is our responsibility; and it can be done through focused, sustained, diligent, and disciplined efforts. This is the only true and lasting path to balance, health, and wellness. And there are now a vast array of natural alternatives that can be used to bring the self into wholeness and balance. But we understand that sometimes medication is both necessary and helpful in certain conditions and that each one can only know what is right for them. So we let go of what substances that we do not need, and we rely on the light within our self to bring us into wellness. One must always check with their own intuition and their own physician before making any medical decisions. And there is no reason why conventional medicine cannot work in beautiful harmony with alternative medicine.
